Flat Iron....Falls Flat

Okay, so granted I was at this restaurant, Flat Iron Steak and Saloon, as part of a group, but wow was I under-impressed.

So the bar here does work and they can do both the typical as well as handle requests.  Their wine selection is above average, but not great, but when it comes to food...hang on.

The group who came in almost universally ordered from a Prix Fix menu and wanted steaks.  The steak on the menu was a ribeye.  I was still performing my Lenten duty and had gone vegetarian so enjoyed an okay salmon.  However, the eighty percent of my colleagues who ordered ribeyes, ended up with sirloins.

While some might argue a steak is a steak, the service staff did not even recognize the difference.  They were bringing out gobs of horseradish which blew me away.  Who eats horseradish on a sirloin and how do you not recognize what you are bringing out?

While the manager tried to make amends with free booze, really the purpose should be to get it right.  As someone who wasn't drinking from your wine list (or my immediate neighbor), what satisfaction is there in getting an order wrong?

Flat Iron has a great location, they have a decent bar without ridiculous noise, but on execution and knowledge, they need to pick up the pace.  A lot.  I realize I had been at Rogue 24 the previous evening so my tastes might be a little more advanced, but I grade on a curve, so work at it.  Please.
