My Kitchen...In St. Louis

Whenever I am in St. Louis, I request the chefs rail at the Tavern Kitchen and Bar.  I first found out about the Tavern through a local magazine which named it the number one restaurant in St. Louis according to local neighbors.

I found the restaurant to be amazing.  The ehef and staff clearly understood how to execute home style cooking on a five star level.  Their Angry Bastards shrimp appetizer is a must have first course and is a combination of cilantro lime juice and other spices which make them perfectly fiery without overpowering the recipient.  Their meats and fish are cooked to perfection.  You will find warm pink centers when you order your filet medium rare.

They also take inventive takes on their side dishes like their creamless corn and tater tot casserole.  It is something you would find from the quirky cool grandma we all had somewhere in our lives.

I’ve been there three times now and every time it is amazing for me.  The kitchen is not an otherwise famous one.  You would find its components at a Chili’s, Applebee’s, or anywhere else, but it’s the focus of the staff in the attention of the chef and his crew to detail and execution which make this a great restaurant.

The Tavern is located at:

2961 Douherty Ferry Road, St. Louis, Missouri  63122

Enjoy and have fun!
